Basic Objectives:
Provide training to utilize members in regard to time, talents,
& treasures for the work of God's kingdom and to ensure the financial
stability of the congregation thru dedicated, proportionate giving--see that a
talent file is maintained with opportunities for training; encourage joyous
worshipful giving in response to blessings received by annually providing each
member a commitment opportunity; evaluate various endowment programs &
screen outside appeals for funds. Appoint a member of the board to serve
as Financial Secretary.
The board seeks to carry out its objectives as follows:
-
In cooperation with the Board of Evangelism, a time and
talent file on members is kept current. This includes acquainting
members with the challenges and different opportunities that exist to serve
others in our local congregation, as well as in the community and throughout
the world. New members are contacted and encouraged to use their
skills, talents and abilities to serve our Lord. Since the time and
talent file is computerized, the church office is able to provide info to
those in charge of finding volunteers to serve as ushers, greeters, lectors,
and the other many tasks that need doing in the church.
-
Encourage the Gospel-motivated practice of
joyful-first-fruits giving and provide an annual opportunity for all members
to make God-pleasing commitments of their treasure.
-
Initiate preparation and presentation of the annual work
program and recommend a budget for adoption by the Voters Assembly in
November.
-
Be concerned with the current Treasurer and Financial
Secretary for safe deposit and recording of all funds, offerings, etc., and
for payment of salaries and bills as authorized by the congregation and the
appropriate boards. In accordance therewith, secure counters for
regular and special services, be responsible for ordering and distributing
offering envelopes, issue regular quarterly statements for members, and keep
the congregation advised regularly as to how it is meeting its stewardship
goals.
-
Encourage and enlist young people for full time service in
the church, with the Director serving as a member of Trinity's Scholarship
Committee.
-
Evaluate and make recommendations for memorials, etc.
-
Promote our present endowment program--Trinity Foundation of
Salina, Kansas (pages 33-35 of the bylaws), which is managed by a committee
of three members (Harold Eagleton, Roy Allen & David George), plus the pastor and the Executive
Director. The members serve staggered 3-yr.terms with one appointment
or reappointment made each year by the Executive Director. There are
no restrictions to reappointment.
