Board of Church Properties
Members from left to right are: (seated) Art Erickson, Glenn Laubhan (Co-Director), Ron Rahe (Co-Director), (standing) Kenneth Berndt (Executive Director liaison), Frank Rapp; Warren Griffin, Brad Sutton, and Keith McCullough. Not pictured: Ed Bonin, Del Frederking, Ernie Van Horn, and John Werling. Meeting time is 1st Monday each month at 7:30 pm. Basic objectives of this board: Proper maintenance and repair of church property; representation in legal matters and general protection against loss or damage; make annual inspection and inventory of church properties and equipment; hire and orient needed custodial help; coordinate activities within the facilities; negotiate insurance and service contracts; enlist work crews as needed; set policies and fees for use of church properties with approval of voters assembly. In 1998 the board did a tremendous job coordinating activities during the recent renovation and building expansion program that combined the original church sanctuary (where the inside of the sanctuary was actually reversed) with the education building (Trinity Hall) into one structure with a new fellowship area in the area that was once an alleyway. The official address of the church was then changed from 701 S. 10th to 702 S. 9th. In 1999 the board was actively involved in overseeing the expansion of Trinity's parking lot in 1999 when it was voted to acquire the property located at 724 S. 9th (the former Clock Shop residence and business) located just south of our present parking lot for $72,000. The funding for the purchase of the property was made possible through a bequest received from the estate of former members, Bernard and Olga Zientarski. After the residence was dismantled and moved, the lot was graded and paved in spring of 2000. The cost for this work was estimated at $35,000 and a special fund drive helped to pay off this project. The board was actively involved in overseeing and assisting with much of work connected with remodeling the church kitchen and upgrading of electrical and plumbing equipment, a project which was completed in February 2004. |
