Basic Objectives:
Strengthen fellowship between members spiritually and socially,
upbuilding mutual cooperation, trust and enjoyment; present Christian image to
public and integrate our work into the life of the community; plan and
implement large congregational gatherings to further its goals; supervise music
programs and organists; supervise ushering staff; plan and publicize services;
assist in developing new forms of worship; supervise work of the Altar Circle;
maintain adequate nursery facilities and personnel; maintain church bulletin
boards inside and out, and recommend messages and themes for
publication.
In carrying out its objectives the Board cooperates with other boards in some
areas and also finds different volunteers to assist in coordinating its work in
other areas, such as:
-
Developing policies and rules for use of facilities in conjunction
with the Property Board.
-
Integrating new members with dinners or special events in
conjunction with the Board of Evangelism.
-
Enhancing worship services by providing for the necessary
musical instruments (organ, keyboard, piano) and filling needed positions such as church organist,
pianist, choir directors, plus providing a variety of other musical enhancements when
possible.
-
Maintain supplies of expendable items for worship in
conjunction with the Altar Circle, such as attendance cards/pencils, oil for
candles, candles for special services, wine, wafers, baptismal
napkin/candles, etc.
-
Coordinate with Altar Circle on decorations to be used in
church and chancel areas and, when applicable, distribution afterward to sick and
shut-in members.
-
Coordinate with Altar Circle and other boards when necessary
on banners used in church and fellowship area.
-
Supervise the purchase of Christmas trees, dates for
placement of trees and other Christmas decorations in the sanctuary,
including removal of the same, in
conjunction with the Youth Ministry Board, as well as supervision of any
other seasonal church decorations.
-
Secure ushers and lectors for regular and special services
as needed and work with pastors to staff, train and supervise ushers.
-
Arrange and publicize special services and activities and
work to improve unified Christian image to the community and to implement
the church's mission (including annual ad in telephone yellow pages and
weekly church listing in newspaper, as well as participation on the Parish
Media Team, a subcommittee of the Board of Evangelism).
-
For the convenience of parents with children, in 1999 the
board prepared 20 children worship bags that are kept in the back of
the church for parents to pick up and use during church services with a
request that they only take one per family. Each bag contains several
activity sheets that children can fill in and/or color, a supply of color
crayons, and a hard piece of clear plastic that serves as backing.
Once the service is over, the bags are to be returned to the back of the
church for others to use. Board members usually take turns being
responsible to check contents weekly and keep bags supplied with fresh
materials as necessary.
-
TLC (Tender Loving Care)--To assist church members in demonstrating care and
concern for one another, Marjorie Allen (or Betty
Groves) keep this ministry on target. All families at Trinity (presently numbering
500) are divided into 8 different groups under the care of two coordinators
each. Coordinator
teams currently serving as of Feb 2000 are: (1) Alice Rahmeier &
Noreen Nelson, (2) Janet Jaeger & Denise Peebles, (3) Elaine Lyon &
Eleanor Cunningham, (4) Helen Jones & Pauline Polach, (5) Meta Pistora
& Emmaline Cummings, (6) Jan Hamman & Marilyn Frederking, (7) Becky Chaput & Joan Reed, and (8) Elvera Miller and Marjorie Walter.
After being notified by Marj of a need, a coordinator will, in turn, contact
people in her group to alert them of various opportunities when a card could be sent to commemorate
a special time of joy
or sadness or when other caring services might be needed.
-
Kitchen Clean Up Committee--Chair prepares a list to show who has agreed to be responsible for
emptying and cleaning up the coffee pots each Sunday and seeing that the
kitchen is tidied up after the Coffee and Donut Fellowship Period between
Sunday services. Chair position is currently vacant.
