Basic Objective of Board of Outreach Ministry

(1) the bringing of the Gospel to the unchurched and (2) motivating and equipping all of God's people in the work of spreading the Gospel.

To help the Board fulfill these objectives, it has implemented various programs as summarized below:

  • Caring System--Three coordinators, Alma Haney, Lois Horner and Ruth Zier, serving consecutively a month at a time, see that calls are made to those who have signed visitor cards at our church services.  Each has  4-6 volunteers on which to call who then will make the actual contact.

  • Greeters--Dee Farres and Dorothy McLeighton are the two volunteers who line up greeters for all our worship services. These volunteers stand inside the sanctuary foyer prior to each service to greet and welcome those who are attending.

  • Hosts--A "host" couple or individual has been assigned to man the movable Guest Book podium near the Wecome Desk in the main foyer prior to each morning worship service to spot visitors and invite them to sign the guest book, plus offering friendly hospitality to help them feel more comfortable when visiting our church.  Betty Groves and Phyllis Von Fange take turns preparing the host schedules every three months.

  • Invisible Sunday School--A team, consisting of Gloria Lewandowski, Alice Rahmeier, and LaVern & Elaine Lyon, faithfully assembles and delivers materials (10 sets of a weekly SS lesson with pictures to color and a 4-crayon packet) to waiting rooms in ten different business places as a special outreach service to children and their families.

  • Mentoring--Phyllis Von Fange works with the director to help our newest members become integrated by assigning mentors to help them get better acquainted and to encourage them to participate in our various church activities.  Phyllis contacts them to get general information so they can be introduced to the congregation in the Sunday bulletin when they are received and in the next  monthly newsletter.  The director usually conducts the 9:45 am Orientation session the Sunday that the new members are received.  LaVern Lyon assists by taking pictures of the new members and preparing and updating pictorial posters to help introduce them to the congregation until the next church pictorial directory is published.

  • Parish Media Team--In seeking new ways to make our church more visible to those in our community, Ericka Werling serves as Trinity's media representative.  She will assist Trinity members in making better use of the free publicity options available in the Salina Journal and our area radio stations for publicizing our major activities and events.  Trinity also maintains a web site at www.trinitysalina.org that provides information on our special activities and events, along with information about our church history, its administrative boards and various organizations.  Phyllis Von Fange, assisted by Alan Von Fange,  is currently serving as webmaster.

  • Telephone Prayer Chain--Prayer requests can be called in to one of our quarterly chairmen (names are listed on the monthly calendar and in each Sunday bulletin) to be passed on to the 34 participants presently serving on Trinity's two morning and two evening chains.  Members are encouraged to also contact the church office when wanting a prayer request listed in the Praise & Prayer Newsletter insert in our weekly Sunday bulletins.

  • Tract Ministry--Margaret Bosch takes care of ordering and making up the various tract displays at Trinity, as well as publishing articles in our monthly newsletter that acquaint us with the many different available tracts.
