Bus Trip Update:  In 2008 Thrivent Chapter hosted two Sunday bus trips of 56 persons each on April 27 and June 8 to a dinner theater at Wichita Crown Uptown Theater to see "Church Basement Ladies."  Original cost for trip of $43 per person ended up being only $18 with $25 each paid by Thrivent. A thank you note to Thrivent for sponsoring these trips was received from Marty Ryan and Marilyn Crawford.  Many hope the Thrivent Chapter will again host the KC pageant and Christmas lights bus trip that had to be cancelled last year due to icy road conditions.

Chapter Activities for "Join Hands Day.”  Each of the ten congregations that are active in the chapter received $100 to help provide assistance to the Salina Food Bank with the actual money being sent to the youth group in each congregation.  Norman Jones helped Trinity's youth deliver $100 worth of food on Sun May 4 to the Food Bank.  Participants included Kay Moore, Youth Administrator, Crystal Moore, Nick Adams, Rachel & Sarah Werling, plus Norman & Helen Jones.  There was a pizza supper provided for participants afterward at Christ the King.  The annual Chapter meeting and election is Sept 21, 2008, at a location not yet determined.

Update on Trinity's Care in Community Projects 2008—(Total funds available $1700)

1.   Sun Aug 17 $200 for Trinity’s Bottled Water Outreach for Downtown Parade Sept 27—A special door offering and donations for Sunday morning donuts during Fellowship Time is scheduled for Sunday, August 27, to raise enough money to order the special labeled bottled water.  Besides names of Trinity and Thrivent the logo reads:  "Sharing God's love ..No Strings Attached!"  Trinity volunteers will hand out this bottled water to participants in the 10:00 am downtown parade on Sat Sept 27.  This will be the third year for this activity.

2.   Sat Sep 20 $700 for Wisconsin Style Fish Feed to benefit Orphan Grain Train.  Serving from 5-7pm.  The LWML will furnish desserts, rolls, and the drinks, plus helping to serve, with the LLL furnishing the necessary manpower to help John White cook.  While no charge is made for the meal, participants are asked to give a donation to Orphan Grain Train. This will be the third year for this activity.  While we prepare to serve up to 200, we served around 160 in 2006 and 150 in 2007.   With some planned additional advance advertising, we hope to serve even more in 2008.  OGT received $1717.50 in '06 and $1655 in '07 (figures include Thrivent matching funds).

3.   $800 still available--Mary Schultz needs a new roof—Norman estimates new roof to cost $6500 to $7000 but he still needs to get info from insurance agent on how much was held back from payments previous given Mary for the new roof that was used instead for her needed new furnace.  Dianne will hold a short meeting sometime during Jul 20 ice cream social to determine if we want to set a time and date for a possible “potato bar” fundraiser for this project.
